Test first, then replace

A lot of 'bad alternator' calls turn out to be a weak battery, a corroded ground, or a loose belt — and a lot of 'dead battery' calls turn out to be an alternator that quit charging. We start with a mobile diagnostic (quote provided up front) that includes a battery load test and a full charging-system test. That tells us exactly what's failing before any parts are ordered.

If the alternator is the problem, the diagnostic fee rolls into a written repair quote. You see the part cost and the labor before we touch anything.

What we replace on-site

Most alternator jobs are a clean mobile repair — we bring the alternator, the tools, and a fresh serpentine belt if yours is worn. We can do this in your driveway, at your office, or wherever the car is parked.

  • Alternator replacement (domestic, Japanese, and most European platforms)
  • Serpentine belt and tensioner when they're worn or noisy
  • Charging-system wiring repair — corroded grounds, melted connectors, bad fusible links
  • Battery replacement at the same visit if the load test calls for it

Pricing and warranty

Alternator pricing is quote-based because the part cost and labor swing widely by vehicle — a Honda Accord is a very different job from an Audi or a diesel truck. After the charging-system test we give you a firm written quote covering the alternator, belt if needed, and labor. No add-ons later.

Every alternator we install is backed by our 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my alternator is bad?
Common signs are a battery or 'check charging system' light, dim or flickering headlights at idle, electrical accessories cutting in and out, a whining or growling noise from the front of the engine, or a car that starts fine then dies a few miles down the road. We confirm with a charging-system test at your driveway before recommending a replacement.
How much does a mobile alternator replacement cost?
Alternator pricing depends on the vehicle — part cost, belt routing, and access vary a lot between platforms. We run a mobile diagnostic (quote provided up front) that includes the charging-system test, then give you a firm written quote before we order anything.
Can you replace an alternator at my house?
Yes — for most vehicles the alternator is a clean mobile job. We bring the alternator, a new serpentine belt if yours is worn, and all the tools. If your specific engine layout makes a driveway repair impractical we'll tell you up front before the appointment.
What warranty do you offer on the alternator?
12 months or 12,000 miles on parts and labor, whichever comes first — the same warranty we put on every repair.
