Why a BMW indy mobile mechanic beats the dealer for most jobs

  • Dealer: book weeks out, loaner-car shuffle, dealer-rate labor. Us: same-week, your driveway.
  • Dealer: brand-pure parts at brand-pure prices. Us: OE-spec parts (often the same Bosch / ZF / Brembo supply) at fair prices.
  • Dealer: 60k / 80k / 100k 'package' pricing that bundles items some cars don't need. Us: we tell you which line items are actually due.
  • Dealer: built around new-car warranty work. Us: built around honest service for cars 3–15 years old.

BMW platforms and engines we know well

We work the modern BMW lineup — chassis E9x / F-chassis / G-chassis — across the gas, twin-turbo, and hybrid lines. Common platforms and what we typically see:

  • N20 / N26 2.0T — timing chain / guide condition (especially pre-2015), oil-filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket
  • N52 inline-6 — generally robust; we check valve cover, oil-filter housing, water pump and thermostat
  • N54 / N55 / B58 inline-6 turbo — HPFP behavior, charge-pipe condition, oil-filter housing, water pump
  • S55 / S58 — performance maintenance: brakes, fluid services, charge-pipe upgrades when appropriate
  • N63 / N63TU twin-turbo V8 — known maintenance points and the customer-care extension scope
  • ZF 8HP transmission — real fluid service interval despite 'lifetime' marketing; we follow ZF's spec
  • xDrive transfer case — fluid service interval that gets skipped; cheap insurance

What we bring to a BMW visit

  • ISTA-class diagnostic equipment — full module access, not just generic OBD-II
  • Battery registration capability after replacement (BMWs require this — many shops skip it)
  • Electronic parking brake reset for rear brake jobs (F/G chassis)
  • OE-spec parts — Bosch, ZF, Sachs, Brembo, Pagid, Continental (often the same suppliers the factory uses)
  • Correct BMW-spec fluids — HT-12 coolant, ZF 8HP-spec ATF, LL-04 / LL-01 engine oil per platform
  • 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor

What we send to a shop

Honest about scope: alignments need a rack, ZF rebuilds and torque-converter replacement need a hoist, and a small number of N63 maintenance procedures are best done with shop infrastructure. We'll tell you up front rather than start and fail.

Simple, three-step process

How it works

No surprise invoices. No upsells. No high-pressure tactics.

  1. 1. Tell us what's going on

Fill out the form or call. Share the year, make, model, and the symptom — that's all we need to scope the work.

  2. 2. We send a written quote

You get a firm written quote and an appointment window — usually within the hour during business hours. Nothing is booked until you say so.

  3. 3. We come to you

An ASE-certified mobile tech arrives at your driveway, office, or wherever the car is sitting. Most repairs done same visit.

Your repair is protected

12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor

Whichever comes first. Same warranty on every vehicle and every job — domestic, Asian, European, EV, or exotic. If something we installed fails inside that window, we make it right at no charge.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you have ISTA or factory-level BMW scan tools?
Yes — ISTA-class equipment that reads every module on the car: DME, transmission, xDrive, ABS / DSC, comfort access, iDrive, headlights. Generic OBD-II readers miss most of what matters on a modern BMW.
Can you register a new battery to the car?
Yes — battery registration is required on most modern BMWs and many independent shops skip it. Without registration, the charging algorithm doesn't match the new battery, and battery life takes a real hit. We register every battery we install.
Are you cheaper than BMW of Raleigh / Leith?
Almost always — because we don't carry dealer overhead, we don't bundle 'inspection packages,' and we bill actual labor instead of padded book time. Bigger savings on labor than on parts; we use OE-spec parts and the same fluids the dealer uses.
Can you do BMW pre-purchase inspections?
Yes — BMW PPIs are among the highest-value PPIs we do because there are specific known issues by chassis and engine. M-cars and high-mileage Alpina / 7-series models sometimes need extra time and tooling, and we account for that before scheduling.
Will independent service void my factory or extended warranty?
No. Federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) protects your right to use a qualified independent mechanic without voiding the manufacturer warranty, as long as the work is done correctly and to spec. We document everything and use OE-spec parts so your records hold up.
Where do you serve?
Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Apex, Wake Forest, Garner, Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Clayton, Knightdale, Morrisville, Wendell, and Rolesville.
What's your warranty?
12 months or 12,000 miles on parts and labor — whichever comes first. Same warranty whether we're working on a base-trim sedan or a flagship sport car.
